Explore lets you ask a direct question about your results instead of digging through charts or building a filter by hand. Explore is available on Growth and Pro studies.

Asking a question

Type your question in plain language into the chat box. Each line of enquiry is its own chat, kept in a history you can revisit, rename, or delete, so you don’t have to retype a question you want to come back to. If you haven’t asked anything yet, a few starting suggestions are offered, such as asking for an overview of the responses, how respondents answered a specific question, or what people said in their own words.

What comes back with an answer

An answer combines a written response with the evidence behind it: supporting quotes shown directly underneath, any chart that helps illustrate the point, and small tags naming exactly which indicator, question, or piece of your study’s context the answer drew on. Clicking one of these tags takes you straight to that item in Analyse, so nothing in Explore’s answer stands apart from the data it came from.

What you can ask

Anything grounded in what respondents actually said: comparisons between groups, a specific sub-group’s experience, or an open-ended prompt like “what frustrated people most about onboarding.”

When voi can’t be fully sure

If a figure in an answer couldn’t be checked directly against your computed results, it’s marked so you can see it’s an estimate rather than a confirmed number. An answer based on only a handful of responses comes with a caution alongside it, and if there are too few responses to say anything meaningful, no chart or quotes are shown at all.

When there isn’t a good answer

If what you’ve asked doesn’t have a clear answer in your data, whether it’s ambiguous, unanswerable from what you collected, or the relevant group is too small, voi explains why rather than just refusing, and offers a few example questions you could try instead.

A chat stays tied to one version of your guide

If you edit your interview guide after starting a chat, that chat stays there for you to read, but you can’t continue the conversation, since it was answering questions about the guide as it stood at the time. Start a new chat to ask about the current version. For a written document built from what you find, see Report.
