Before you invite anyone, it helps to know the roles you’re actually assigning them to, since voi splits a billing account from a workspace, and neither one is the same as a study.

Three separations, not one big permission table

The model is built on three separations, and these explain more than a table of checkboxes would:
  • Someone funding twenty workspaces cannot open a single respondent’s answer.
  • Someone controlling thousands of answers cannot spend a euro.
  • A leonardo platform administrator configures the platform and reads no research content.

Billing account roles

A billing account is what pays for studies, and it can fund more than one workspace. See Billing & subscription for the full detail.

Workspace roles

A workspace is where studies get built and run. Its roles control who can build and change a study, not who can read the results. Anyone invited into a workspace, at any of these three roles, can open individual responses. See Workspace settings for how to invite a teammate and assign a role.

Single-study roles

Someone outside your workspace, typically a funder, can be granted access to one study without joining your workspace at all. A study viewer can read that study’s report, quotes, and media, and comment on it; a study editor can also build within that one study. Granting or revoking this access, and promoting a study viewer to editor, is a workspace owner’s call.

People who need no account at all

A respondent never needs a voi account to take part in a study. Neither does someone your organisation shares a finished report with; a report link works without signing up. Both groups sit outside the roles above entirely. See Data privacy & roles for who is legally responsible for which data, separately from who can access it day to day, and the Permission matrix for every privilege broken down by role, including leonardo’s own platform-side roles.
